Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad will be locking horns against each other for the first time in the ongoing 16th season of the Indian Premier League tomorrow. Last home match of the season for Titans, they would be keen to finish the league stage at the Narendra Modi Stadium on a winning note. Readers must note that Ahmedabad will be hosting Hyderabad for the first time since 2014.

Assuming that the defending champions manage to do that, they will seal a berth for themselves in IPL 2023 playoffs. All but out of contention for qualifying for the playoffs, Sunrisers would be wanting to keep the hosts away from qualification until their last match. Assuming they are able to do the same, it will make the qualification scenario all the more interesting.

Having faced each other twice last season, both GT and SRH had won a match each. Readers must note that both the matches were won by the team batting second.

Played at the Wankhede Stadium, the latest match is fondly remembered for GT scoring 22 runs in the last over to seal a thrilling last-ball 196-run chase. At the time, it was the second-highest number of runs scored in the last over of a successful run-chase in the IPL. All-rounder Rahul Tewatia and vice-captain Rashid Khan had shared a match-winning 24-ball 59-run sixth-wicket partnership.
