Himachal Pradesh: One killed, three injured in cloudburst at Kais village near Kullu | Shimla News
SHIMLA: One person died and three others were injured in a cloudburst that struck Kais village near Kullu in Himachal Pradesh, in the wee hours of Monday.
At least two vehicles and a few houses were also damaged in the flash flood triggered by the cloudburst, which also blocked a link road.
According to the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), the deceased has been identified as Badal Sharma, a resident of Chansari village.
The injured, identified as Khem Chand, Suresh Sharma and Kapil, have been admitted to a nearby hospital in Kullu.
A district administration official said that the cloudburst struck at around 3.35am when the entire village was asleep.
Meanwhile, minor landslides blocked two sections of the highway between Kullu and Raison early Monday morning. The road was cleared for traffic within a few hours.
According to the SDMA, 53 landslides and 41 flash floods have been reported since June 24 in Himachal Pradesh. The total losses in the state due to monsoon rains have reached over 4414 crore.
