It is another Super Sunday and in the second encounter of the day Gujarat Titans will take on Rajasthan Royals in game number 23 of IPL 2023. It is a clash between the last year’s finalists and both teams have started this season with a bang as well by winning three out of their four games so far. We will be at the Narendra Modi Stadium again for the clash between the two sides and let’s hope for a cracker of an encounter.

Gujarat Titans have looked like a team to beat again in this season. They have played like a unit and have a well-rounded team with plenty of match-winners. Shubman Gill has been in red hot form this season and has scored 183 runs in 4 matches. Sai Sudharsan and Saha also have done their job quite well and with likes of Hardik Pandya Miller and Tewatia in the middle order they are a power-packed unit. On the bowling front they have Alzarri Joseph and Mohammed Shami leading from the front along with Rashid Khan.

Rajasthan Royals led by Sanju Samson have also played some superb cricket this season. They are coming into this game on a back of hard-fought win against CSK at Chepauk and would be high in confidence. Their dynamic opening duo of Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal have taken them off to a flier in most of the games while Samson has also played couple of sparkling knocks. They have a quality bowling attack as well with two of the best spinners in India and they would be looking to avenge the lost of the 2022 season final.

Gujarat Titans: Tactics & Matchups: Rashid Khan and Mohit Sharma between them have dismissed Jos Buttler five times in the IPL and the Titans could look at using them in the powerplay. Rashid has also been effective against Devdutt Padikkal and Shimron Hetmyer having bagged their wickets two times each. Mohammed Shami too could be handy against Hetmyer having dismissed him four times in 17 deliveries.

Rajasthan Royals: Tactics & Matchups: Yuzvendra Chahal is a favorable match-up for the Royals against Pandya and David Miller – the legspinner has dismissed the GT captain two times while he has accounted for the South African left-hander’s wicket three times. Miller has also not fared all that well against R Ashwin having been dismissed by him two times and has a strike rate of 115.38.

Sanju Samson needs 54 more runs to become the first Rajasthan Royals player to reach the landmark of 3000 runs in the IPL. – Hardik Pandya who has already taken 50 wickets in the IPL needs 16 more runs to reach 2000 runs in the tournament. Only five other players have achieved the double of 2000-plus runs and fifty-plus wickets in the IPL and Pandya will become the youngest to do so.

What to expect: In the two matches played so far at this venue chasing sides have been successful. The Titans reached 182/5 after Chennai Super Kings posted 178/7 in the first match of IPL 2023. Last Sunday the Knight Riders secured a famous victory chasing 205 against the hosts Titans. Batting-friendly conditions can also be expected for this game and teams will prefer to chase here considering that the four matches played here – two in the last edition and two so far – have been won by teams batting second.

Meanwhile temperatures will be north of 35 degree Celsius. Head-to-head: Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans have been against each other three times in the IPL so far and all occasions GT have got the better of Rajasthan Royals.
