The IPL caravan has moved to its 46th game now and we have Punjab Kings taking on Mumbai Indians in this crucial encounter. Both teams have blown hot and cold this season but are coming into this game on the back of a morale-boosting win. A win for Punjab will take them out of the middle-muddle while for MI it is important to win this one to strengthen their position on the points table. An interesting game is on the cards.
Mumbai Indians (Preview) – MI have a good quality batting line-up but their bowling has led them down this season. Their openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan too have not been consistent and they would be hoping for more impactful knocks from the two openers. However Suryakumar Yadav is back in form and with Tim David also firing in the last season MI will be gearing up to avenge defeat they faced against Punjab at Wankhede. They need their bowling line-up to deliver though and especially at the death. Punjab Kings (Preview) – Punjab Kings have played some very good cricket but have been ordinary at times. A win against CSK in the last game though would be a huge boost for them and now would be looking to continue the momentum at their home ground. They have powerful hitters in their line-up and if they get going MI can be in big trouble. Also Shikhar Dhawan is due for some runs after his injury comeback and we might see a strong batting performance from PBKS against a relatively weaker MI bowling attack.
On the bowling front they have three world-class pacers in the form of Rabada Sam Curran and Arshdeep Singh. Rahul Chahar is also bowling well from the last couple of games and if this Punjab unit can keep their nerves intact in pressure situations they can come out on top yet again. He would be expected to shoulder MI’s otherwise troubled pace department again especially with overcast conditions likely to come to his aid.
