Pvt hospital doctors body in Rajasthan reach agreement with govt on RTH Bill; calls off strike | Jaipur News
The representatives of doctors’ associations, spearheading the fight, announced that the strike, which had been in place for 17 days, had been called off.
Even as the agreement was being signed, the agitating doctors took out their pre-scheduled rally in Jaipur to protest the RTH Bill on Tuesday.
“Since the government has accepted our demands, we have converted our maha rally into a victory parade. Whatever we have demanded, we have taken it. We have asked the government to exempt the private sector and only implement it in the government sector on a pilot basis. The government has accepted our demand,” said Dr Vijay Kapoor, secretary, private hospitals and nursing homes society (PHNHS).

He further said, “The RTH will be implemented only in the government sector and those private hospitals which have signed an agreement with the government (those funded by the government in form of land/and building). The entire private sector has now been exempted totally from RTH. This is a big win for the medical fraternity. From 8am tomorrow (Wednesday) all doctors of private hospitals will get back to work”.
The memorandum of understanding has been signed between representatives of the Indian Medical Association, Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Society, United Private Clinics and Hospitals of Rajasthan (UPCHAR) and state government representatives.
The final talks started on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday and continued till 3am.
The discussions had previously come to a deadlock on Monday morning. A peaceful solution resulted from the late-night discussions.
The private hospitals started their protest against RTH on March 19 and a day before the RTH bill was tabled and passed in the state assembly. During the past 17 days, the doctors took out rallies and also some of them protested by observing fast unto death.
